“Hey lady what’s your name?”
I heard that voice and I turned
knowing that once I did, things
could not possibly be the same.
When a four year old on a swing
starts a conversation from afar
there is no way you can ignore him
I don’t care who you are
“Well hello,” I said and gave him my real name
I was starting to get curious as to what was his game.
“Where are you going and what are you going to do?”
” I am going home to make banana muffins, how about you?”
“Oh banana muffins! That is my favorite! And I like strawberries and blueberries too!”
Hmmm this “hey lady, what’s your name” game was taking on a new dimension
I was wondering what other foods he liked and so I smiled and waited for him to mention
that perhaps he liked hot chocolate with a banana muffin with strawberries and blueberries.
You see when one is four
if you think it
you can decide.
That is why I stopped and turned
for his thought of hot chocolate with a banana muffin
with strawberries and blueberries
on the side.
