True Friends

Daft and Rotter were true friends

One day however they had a fight

neither would make amends

They fussed and they fumed

But neither would denign to speak

You would think that such friends

Would miss each other sore

But no, neither would come near

Either one’s door.

Then one day there was such a hew

And a cry, Daft said to Rotter

(In her imagination she did speak)

You know I could not replace you with another

So let’s be friends for ever and a day

So since then they  have spoken and and it has

Always been that way.
