They came into my house
Those Dangerous Donuts from D&D
They knocked very softly and said
“Pretty please, we’d like to sit on your counter .We will be the quietest
donuts that you will ever encounter.”
“Quiet indeed ,”I said as I invited them in
and popped them into my mouth like the
Walrus and his Oysters of Alice (Lewis
Carroll’s dear friend…)
Finishing them all off I licked my lips and said with a grin “the pleasure is mine
please come back with more the next time and I will be sure
to let you  back in!”

The whatevers never get you
whereever ,whenever, however
you need to be
It is just another form of procrastination
that keeps you from going where you
will clearly see

It is characterized by a shoulder
shrug and can be dismissed as
a gesture that is fairly benign
But it really takes a pro to read
between the lines.

It is the same as I dunno,
I am dodo or sure beats
me.  Clear as mud means
brain molecules have stopped
their working, on vacation so to
speak….on vacation and won’t
be available or thinking for at least
a week (or even more if the “Whatevers”
come to stay)

Whatevers are a good way to end
a conversation that has no end in sight
gently drifting off to sleep without

saying

G’nite

and leaving someone else to turn off the light

Whatever……

Rock behemoth
shaded by the quiet green
of the bough
resting on the grass

As the evening draws near
Starts to stir

In night’s darkness
stretches it’s ponderous legs
around the field

and then lies down again
waiting for the dawn and
the quiet green of the day

Footsteps
coming up to the closed door
A quiet knock
a sigh
no reply
Footsteps
gently walking away

The Angry Rhinoceros is back again
last time there was a cry and and a din for
this Rhinoceros was learning to swim
He is swimming now with great aplomb
Moving along
to riding a bicycle with training wheels
on
Around and around and around
he must go
Where he stops Mr. Nobody
knows.
When it is dark he lies down in his bed
with his helmet still on his curly head
(or so his Mommy says)
His little legs are still riding his bicycle
(Rhinoceroses do have short legs you know)

Dreaming the dreams of where he might go
as soon as he gets up in the morning

( 6 o’clock a.m. Rhinoceros time)

Why do some people want to get
to the end of their journey even before
they have packed

Why do some people want to ride a
bicycle without the pain of skinned
knees

Why?

There are some weeks that have gone by the way of the
Gooney Bird

There are days that are all a wash

There are moments when you want to

throw in the towel

There are seconds in which battles are lost

These are things that happened along the way

of going to where you are supposed to be

You can never take back what has been done

but you can plan what is meant to be
